What to Expect?

The National Senior University Career Leaders Symposium provides a meaningful opportunity for senior leaders to connect, collaborate, and learn together. It complements the important value brought by meetings within our provincial networks, by creating space for facilitated national dialogue and professional development.  There will also be space on the agenda for participant driven discussion of hot topics, regional conversation, and institutional updates.

Key Themes include:

  • Programming, resources, and operating models in the current climate
  • The imperative for quality data, metrics for evaluation, and impact storytelling in career services
  • Empowering competency development, operational leadership and staff engagement
  • Building strategic relationships for innovation, advocacy, and sustainability
  • Optimizing inclusion, equity, and accessibility in our programming and service delivery
  • Emerging (and necessary) strategies surrounding the integration of AI into our policies and practice
  • Supporting our teams and each other in a shifting landscape

Here is an overview of what you can expect on each day of the event:

November 26: Option to participate in a discovery tour on the University of Guelph campus in the afternoon, informal meet-ups, as well as an evening networking event to kickstart connections.

November 27 (8:30 - 4:30 pm): A dynamic day of professional learning, sharing ideas and practices, and exploration of key themes through a leadership and strategy lens. You are also invited to attend a networking dinner with colleagues to keep the conversation going and foster connections in a more casual setting.

November 28 (8:30 am - 3:00 pm): Hot-topic roundtables, spark sessions, regional and institutional updates, and a closing plenary session will round out the connection building, dialogue and learning.

Participants are also welcome to extend their time in Guelph for connecting with local career centres, employer engagement or to explore the region.

As the program is fine tuned, we will invite your input on hot topic roundtables and regional discussion topics that will make this event even more relevant and rewarding for all. The full program will be available shortly.
