The 2015 Ontario Regional Conference will take place on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at The Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University and will be attended by over 120 employers, career services professionals and co-op educators. Join CACEE for a full day of professional development and industry networking, along with thought-provoking speaker presentations. The 2015 Ontario Regional Conference is a can’t-miss industry event!

We asked for some of the hot topics on your mind – and, you delivered. CACEE is pleased to kick-off the 2015 Ontario Regional Conference with a series of Quick Hit sessions that will tackle some of the ‘game changing’ issues that are at the forefront of the campus recruitment space.
Each session will involve a 20 minute presentation from a renowned thought leader and expert on the topic, followed by 10 minute Q & A sessions moderated by our conference co-chairs. Four sessions in all will make for a great kick start to our learning and key takeaways for the day.
Topics include: Generation Z, Recruitment and Talent Management in a Global Marketplace, Innovation in Graduate Recruitment Programs, and Positioning Career Services as a Critical Partner in Post-Secondary Institutions.

1:00 PM – Employability Skills Gap Panel
Canadian employers, large and small, report that they are having a hard time finding entry-level candidates with the skills they seek. Meanwhile, Canada’s youth are experiencing an unemployment rate twice as high as the rate for the general population. At face value, it would seem that the solution to one problem lies in the solution to the other, but it isn’t that simple. Employers will tell you that graduates lack the skills needed in the contemporary workforce. As the economy improves they expect this challenge will persist and possibly worsen. On the other hand, colleges and universities are producing more graduates than ever from a broad range of programs. What’s missing? What can be done?
Representatives of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses and the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario will report on research done by each organization on the subject of employer needs and what might be done to better connect talent with opportunity.

These sessions are an opportunity for a deeper dive with your colleagues into one of four areas that are at the forefront of campus recruitment and career education. Each ‘breakout’ will be facilitated by a passionate career educator or employer using a unique format and style to maximize the learning and discussion. The topics on-tap are:

After a full day of sparking ideas, discussing priority issues, and rekindling connection we invite you to join us for a capstone session that is sure to inspire. This is a chance to let the best practices, innovative ideas, and strategies for success in your work you have experienced gel. Together, we will focus in on the notion of ‘Change’ and becoming the agents of change that help us to realize the reality we want for ourselves, our work, and ultimately, the impact we have on our primary stakeholder…students.
