Job Description / Duties

Under the direction of the TRU Career Education Department, the Co-op Coordinator will work within the Engineering and Technology related Co-op program to place, monitor and support students.
The Co-op Coordinator will:
1. Be responsible for promoting the Co-op program to students and prospective employers
2. Market Co-op opportunities to prospective students and participate in a variety of recruitment events, career fairs, and employer information sessions
3. Meet with students one-on-one to assist them in the co-op process. This will include counselling students on career development, planning, Co-op guidelines, and eligibility requirements.
4. Instruct semester sections of the pre-requisite Co-op 1000 course
5. Develop employer partnerships and Co-op work-term opportunities for students in Engineering Co-op
6. Secure, coordinate, and monitor placements of co-op students with participating organizations, corporations and agencies at a regional, provincial, and national level
7. Conduct work site visits and evaluations of student Co-op work-terms
8. Be responsible for marking work-term reports and assignments
9. Maintain student records and documentation
10. Participate in special projects/activities as needed and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Master's degree relevant to Career Education field
• Minimum 3 years' experience relevant to the Co-op and Career Education field
• Demonstrated instructional skills and experience in a post-secondary setting
• Knowledge of regional, provincial, national and international labour markets
• Knowledge of Engineering Co-op is preferred
• Superior time management, written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations (including students, employers, faculty, deans, administrators and alumni
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to use web-authoring and database programs

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: June 1, 2019 to March 27, 2021
