A Brief Overview
Career Services supports students in building hope, confidence, skills, and connections toward successful futures by providing university-wide support for career development and the growth of experiential learning opportunities. Join the Queen's Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) to organize valuable experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students through 12-16 month, full-time, paid internships. Reporting to the Manager, QUIP, the Senior Internship Coordinator contributes to the success of experiential learning programs coordinated by Career Services, with specific focus on QUIP. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring superior service and advising to students and employers, and effective relationships with program partners. They will support process change and coordinate day-to-day workflow of the team.
Incumbent will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends throughout the year. This position provides job search and career advice to students and staff including career exploration, internship search, and providing feedback on job search collateral. This position liaises with employers to build relationships that support the creation of internship opportunities. This position guides employers through the employment partnership hiring process including job postings, company information sessions, interviewing, and tracking offers and acceptances. This position also directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.
What you will do
Provides job search and career advice to students and staff including career exploration, internship search, and providing feedback on job search collateral.
Liaises with employers to build relationships that support the creation of internship opportunities.
Guides employers through the employment partnership hiring process including job postings, company information sessions, interviewing, and tracking offers and acceptances.
Develops annual outreach plan to meet internship posting targets.
Obtains feedback from employers, students, and partners to inform recommendations.
Coordinates the development and promotion of informational material for use in both print and online.
Maintains databases and analyzes program statistics to support strategic decision-making.
Identifies opportunities to improve program efficiency and new partnerships.
Designs and delivers workshops, events, and information sessions on internship related topics.
Directs, allocates, and supervises the work of other staff.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Knowledge and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or substantial work experience.

Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before the impact performance and results.
Apply equity, diversity, accessibility, inclusion and Indigenization considerations to decision making and planning.
Promote a work environment that is free from sexual violence, harassment and discrimination, and the ability to show empathy for those who have experienced trauma.
Assess the suitability of job candidates and recommend the most appropriate person for hire.
Monitor and assess output and the quality of work from team members and recommend need for formal training or development plans to management and identify possible performance and/or disciplinary issues.
Required Education
Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
Required Experience
More than 5 years of experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
