Acadia seeks a Co-op Coordinator to liaise with employers to facilitate work terms for our students in co-op programs, as well as work directly with the co-op students to enable their success. This will be accomplished by preparing students for co-op work terms (providing personalized coaching and conducting professional development workshops on resume/cover letter preparation, job search strategies, interviewing skills, etc.) and seeking employers who can offer meaningful work-integrated learning experiences for students.
The successful applicant will act as liaison between students and employers, advertising student opportunities, submitting applications, arranging interviews and offers. The incumbent will monitor the students' progress and the relationship with the employers by reviewing and providing course assignment feedback/conducting work site visits, interceding to problem-solve as needed.
Ongoing relationship building with employers is necessary to maintain and increase the opportunities available for our students which may include networking with employers at events and via industry initiatives. The incumbent will also make employers aware of available funding programs.
We are seeking candidates with relevant client relationship development/management experience as well as experience in facilitating educational programs.
Bachelor's degree is required, plus related experience in fields such as work-integrated learning, career and employment services or student services.
A strong customer service focus is required; candidates must enjoy interacting with others and possess excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated effectiveness in prioritizing work in a fast-paced, changing, challenging, and deadline-driven environment.
Must have the ability to engage stakeholders in initiatives in order to generate participation and have the ability to communicate with and understand the needs of a diverse student population.
Experience in the development and facilitation of workshops and presentations is highly desirable.
Proficiency in MS Office applications with experience working with databases and conducting web research is required.
The successful candidate will be required to provide own transportation to off-campus meetings and other work-related purposes and must possess a valid driver's license.
Candidates must be able to occasionally work outside regular office hours and may be required to travel outside of Nova Scotia.
Knowledge of Acadia's academic programs and administrative procedures an asset.
