To advance the Division of Students vision as Partners in Student Success, the Associate Director, Career Education (Associate Director) strategically leads the career education team and oversees developing high-impact, innovative and inclusive programming that facilitates student and new graduate career exploration, career decision-making, job search, and employment preparation. The role builds partnerships at the University in the community and champions seamless and integrated career education in the curriculum and co-curriculum. The role provides input on strategic initiatives involving student career development undertaken by York partners and to support the University's recruitment and retention activities. The role requires a service-focused professional who treats members of the community with respect, values their time, strives for personal best and collaborates to improve service experiences for all.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:
Undergraduate degree with a focus in career education, adult education, student affairs, counselling, or a related/comparable area. Masters degree preferred. Formal training in career development (e.g. Certified Career Development Professional (CCDP), Career Development Practitioner (CCCD), etc.) is an asset. Five (5) years' management experience within a co-op/career department, preferably managing/supervising a unionized team. Demonstrated experience leading career development program and service delivery, with an emphasis on project and program development, implementation, assessment and group facilitation, within an educational or comparable setting preferred.
