Job Description / Duties

The Experiential Education Coordinator role has overall responsibility for operations of the Experiential Education (EE) program in the Faculty of Science.

Key activities include the development, implementation and evaluation of EE initiatives such as co-operative education and internship opportunities, and other EE activities as required. The role is responsible for researching, identifying and creating EE opportunities that are valuable for Faculty of Science students and cultivates mutually beneficial employer and community partnerships to this end.

With a service excellence mindset, the role acts as the main touchpoint for employers interested in hiring York Science co-op and internship students and takes a pro-active role in outreach and building effective relationships with hiring managers. The role is also responsible for providing information to students on co-op, internship and other EE opportunities.

The role creates and facilitates workshops to prepare students for their job search and provides support to students while on work-term.

This role is integral to York Science's strategic direction on enabling access to experiential education for all students.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education -

University Degree or four years' recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience -

  • Two (2) years of recent related experience coordinating a post-secondary experiential program, such as. internship or cooperative education. This includes using a Student Information System and/or similar database/customer relationship management system, and providing student advising.
  • Demonstrated marketing and recruitment experience.
  • Experience with sales/business development and using recruitment platforms such as LinkedIn

Additional Information

This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s) or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview.

Hours of work: Generally, between 8:30am to 4:30pm. This position requires flexibility in days worked and work hours during the peak periods.Flexibility within a 7-hour work-day outside of the general work hours will be required during peak periods - for example, 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

Flexibility of days of work may also be required during peak periods. For example, working from Tuesday to Saturday on occasions.Work-days and hours of work may be altered to accommodate work demands on weekends and evenings as needed.

Summer: Overtime may be necessary during peak periods

Peak periods for this position: January-March, September, October

Vacation restriction: January-March, September, October

Salary: $77,236.00
