Category: EducationCECS staff functions as a liaison between students, employers, alumni, and the different faculties and departments within the University of Waterloo to help to determine and facilitate employment opportunities.
The CECS Western Canada & USA Team is looking for a Student Advisor to work from a home based office in the Vancouver, Canada area.
• The Student Advisor is the primary contact for co-op students on their work term.
• The Student Advisor provides support to ensure maximum success for each co-op student.
• The Student Advisor builds relationships with employer supervisors.
• CECS employs 24 Student Advisors located across Canada to support students working in areas remote from campus
Undergraduate degree or equivalent education and or experience required. Candidates should be empathetic and interested in student learning and success with a background in coaching, mentoring, supervising or counseling. Knowledge of co-operative education and experience in career advising is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (English: oral & written), problem solving and an ability to multi-task is required together with being results driven and service orientated to meet student needs. The student advisor must be able to work independently within a team. This position will be based in the Vancouver area. The successful candidate will be required to travel within Western Canada and to the USA, with occasional travel to the university campus in Waterloo, ON.
