In this excellent temporary part time opportunity, the Internship Coordinator & Liaison contributes to the success of the Environmental Studies Co-op Internship Program by providing superior service to students and employers and plays a key role in generating career development opportunities for York students through the targeted development of relationships with new employer partners and fostering of existing relationships. This is achieved through the effective and proactive identification, promotion and provision of services that connect students’ academic and career development needs with employers’ human resources requirements to create mutually valuable opportunities. The Internship Coordinator & Liaison will develop, coordinate, deliver and promote ongoing job search support services and advising to internship students including resume critiques, interview practice sessions and the delivery of information sessions and customized job search support workshops to assist with finding meaningful internship positions. The Internship Coordinator & Liaison conducts work term monitoring (ie. telephone, email and site visits as necessary) to ensure that student internship experiences are productive and rewarding, and to enhance relationships with employer partners. This position will also coordinate the day-to-day administration of the Environmental Studies Co-op Internship Program by coordinating the student application and enrollment process, maintaining up-to-date and accurate student information, and responding to student and employer inquiries.
Education:
University Degree plus specialized training in job search strategies, career development and experiential education or equivalent combination of education and years of experience, which shows an aptitude towards superior interpersonal skills and student advising.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years related experience working with students in a post-secondary internship or cooperative education program and/or student recruiting (e.g. campus recruiting or management trainee program recruitment) and employer relationship development is required. Experience working with Environmental Studies focused programs (i.e. students, employers and faculty) is a definite asset.
Skills:
Knowledge of the following: labour market trends, employability skills, career development techniques and strategies.
Demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas: guiding clients in job search strategies; establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships; workshop design, development, and evaluation using a client-centred approach; proven success in identifying, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external clients including operating with a service focus; superior public speaking and presentation skills; strong oral and written communication skills; outstanding attention to accuracy and detail; highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills; working cooperatively as a member of a team to meet unit goals and objectives; excellent organizational skills including ability to multi-task; good judgment and decision making skills, strong initiative; punctual and reliable; proficiency with MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), electronic mail and computerized scheduling (Lotus Notes preferred), Student Information System (SIS) and other databases. Willingness to travel to employer locations primarily in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for this role.
