Job Description / Duties

The Executive Director will have a mandate to implement strategies that allow the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre to strengthen the ability of Sauder to assist students to successfully launch their careers around the globe. Based in Vancouver, the role will report to the Senior Associate Dean, Academic Programs and Associate Dean, Professional Graduate Programs, and provide direction to a team of approximately 20 persons. With an eye on global business development to generate results for students, the Executive Director will help facilitate teamwork, flexibility, an appetite for change and integration of efforts and resources.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking team player with a multicultural world-view and the proven ability to inspire others to embrace and achieve stretch goals. With a university degree in a relevant discipline, ideally at the Master's level, the candidate must have at least 8 years of related experience in an academic or corporate setting. With a keen interest in the global business community and a demonstrated talent for building long-term relationships in complex organizations, the candidate must be a coach and mentor with an understanding of, and appreciation for, the diversity of needs of business students and employers in BC and elsewhere. Preferably, the candidate has a successful track record of leading a career centre at a prominent and respected business school associated with a world-class university. An upbeat, proactive builder, the candidate must have superb management and analytical skills, excellent working knowledge of computer and web-based business tools and technologies, a high tolerance for ambiguity, strong systems, operations and data management skills and the capacity to foster creativity and innovation in making connections with students and employers.
