Category: EducationReporting to the Associate Director, Career & Leadership Development Centre, the Coordinator of Career Programming will develop and expand on the creation and delivery of career-related resources, events and services for clientele in the Career & Leadership Development Centre (CLDC).
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implementation of a comprehensive training program for the Peer Advising Team to be held prior to the start of classes in the fall semester on an annual basis.
• Coordinate of the annual recruitment process for the Peer Advising Team (approximately 12 students) and additionally, supervise, coach, organize and schedule the Peer Advisors to maximize the number of drop-in advising service hours in a week while offering highest level of career related advising.
• Assess current offering of all career-related resources both online and in print and make improvements and enhance the career programming resources offered by the unit.
• Identify and obtain new resources as necessary with an emphasis on online content that is innovative and dynamic.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director and partners on campus to develop a plan for the “career readiness” program.
• Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy to promote the program to students and promote the value of program to students and other stakeholders and partners at the university.
• Build a “career community” at Dalhousie by bringing interested parties together to discuss the ongoing enhancement of career-related services.
• Offer support via presentations, workshops, electronic resources to faculty members in departments without dedicated career service support resources.
• Coordinate a newsletter to be sent to faculty and other on-campus partners regarding career services on an annual or semi-annual basis.
• Oversee existing licenses for career resources and seek out new licenses as necessary.
Completion of Undergraduate degree in related field such as education, business or another related field along with at least 3 years’ experience in career service environment, career development, or other advising or educator capacity, etc. and progressive experience in team management, project management or related field, preferably in a post-secondary education setting (or an equal combination of training and experience) is required. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required. A strong analytical and problem solving skill along with demonstrated ability to establish positive collaborative work relationships is essential.
