Job Description / Duties

Assist and support instructor in an undergraduate career/coop preparation course by performing teaching-related duties, such as facilitating active learning activities/workshops, tutoring and advising students, grading and giving comprehensive feedback on career-related material and assignments.

• Assist instructor during classroom activities by guiding and tutoring students working individually or in groups.
• Critique, grade, and record grades for student career-related assignments, such as cover letter, resume informational interviews, etc.
• Return assignments to students in accordance with established deadlines.
• Schedule and maintain regular office hours to meet with students.
• Inform students of the procedures for completing and submitting class work, such as assignments.
• Notify instructors of errors or problems with assignments.
• Meet with instructors to discuss students' grades or to complete required grade-related paperwork.
• Copy and distribute classroom materials.
• Attend lectures given by the instructor whom they are assisting.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent education and /or experience required.
• Career Development Practitioner training/certification would be considered a definite asset.
• Experience working with undergraduate students in technology/engineering program would be an asset.
• Proven ability to build strong mentoring relationships for tutoring and advising.
• Extensive individual advisement and group facilitation skills (in person and via technology).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and to work independently with a minimum of supervision in a team teaching environment.
• Must have strong experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
