Responsibilities:
We require a qualified individual to join Co-operative Education and Career Services to provide leadership and strategic direction for career, educational and employment advising and services at Conestoga.
Research, design, develop, implement and assess advising initiatives, including delivery methods that support institutional success outcomes, address unmet needs and complement other campus advising services
Lead a team of employees to provide seamless career, educational and employment advising for students seeking to transfer programs, explore future educational opportunities or transition from school to work
Research, implement and evaluate best practices within career education
Coordinate employer information sessions, showcases and networking events as well as job and career fairs
Develop creative, innovative ways to market and promote career and employment advising services, job and career fairs, employer events and other recruiting activities to students
Provide effective recruiting, selection, training, motivating and performance management
In consultation with staff, develop and implement an annual Career Services plan with measurable goals and objectives and prepare year-end reports
Provide enhanced support for students in their final term to assist them in securing full-time employment related to their field of study
Develops and maintains partnerships and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Maximize the use of MyCareer, Conestoga’s online student and graduate recruitment system
Take advantage of opportunities to secure government funding for programs that benefit new graduates
Qualifications:
Four-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related discipline
Five years of current relevant experience working in career or employment advising, human resources or a related field, preferably in a post-secondary institution
Experience managing in a unionized environment is considered an asset
Experience delivering career and employment advising services at the post-secondary level
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
Marketing skills, especially using social media
Customer service skills
Experience using technology to deliver services
Strong leadership and management skills
Ability to build teams and manage change
Creative and innovative in responding to changes and trends in PSE and the labour market
Experience supporting international students or immigrants with career, education and employment needs
