Job Summary
The Employer Engagement Advisor is responsible for researching, initiating, developing, and managing employer relationships to enhance the career development and on-campus recruitment activity for UBC Vancouver students. The incumbent manages the delivery of services and support to employers who are educating, engaging and recruiting UBC students and alumni. The Employer Engagement Advisor designs effective student-employer experiences, consults with the community about employment needs, overseas on-campus recruitment programs, services and systems for employers in line with the University's mission; develops and nurtures relationships with employers; manages and coordinates innovative events designed to assist students or alumni explore careers (fairs, expos, mentorship,and panel discussions). The incumbent fosters strong relations with UBC alumni through effective marketing of Centre for Student Involvement & Careers events and services and through collaborative partnering with Alumni UBC and Alumni Affairs on joint events and programs. Provides information and advice to students and alumni regarding job search strategies and labour market trends.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Manager, Career & Professional Development and works in collaboration with Centre for Student Involvement & Careers staff, campus career partners, Faculties, Corporate Relations, Student Services units, Co-op Programs, Alumni UBC, Alumni Affairs and other departments, and student organizations, Including the AMS and GSS.

Work Performed
- Manages all aspects of the on-campus recruitment programs and services to ensure excellent service is provided to the employer community. Includes advising employers on effective strategies to recruit UBC students and alumni, deciding which organizations and industries will be targeted for inclusion in on-campus recruitment, and developing effective policies and procedures for coordinating company information sessions and interview schedules. Attends on-campus recruitment events to develop, nurture and maintain relationships with employers.
- Ensures that UBC's on-campus recruitment services reflect best practices by researching, recommending and implementing appropriate services and programs.
- Develops, plans and executes special events or programs for UBC students and alumni and/or prospective employers. Ensures that the university's reputation is maintained by delivering the highest quality of service. Includes designing the program, creating and managing the budget for the event, promoting the event, ensuring appropriate catering requirements are met, coordinating faculty or corporate presentations, and coordinating the involvement of other Centre for Student Involvement & Careers and Student Services staff. These events may include career fairs, panel events, mentorship & network events, career information days for UBC students and alumni, and other similar events.
- Works as an advisor, coach and consultant to student groups on any employer engagement events that they may be planning. Ensures that Centre for Student Involvement & Careers is aware of any student-planned events involving the employer community. These may include career fairs, speaker series or career information forums.
- Works with the appropriate Centre for Student Involvement & Careers staff on continuously improving and expanding CareersOnline.
- Works with the appropriate Manager to ensure that outreach events are staffed, as needed, with the appropriate level of Career Education staff.
- Manages all on-campus recruitment activities, i.e., employer information sessions and Careers Days and all customized employer recruitment programs including fee setting and collecting, staffing, choosing the appropriate venue, advertising, evaluating and troubleshooting. Maintains all statistics regarding employer engagement and prepares reports on a regular basis for the Manager, Career & Professional Development.
- Provides industry information and professional connections for educational events and networking.
- Monitors and attends industry related events.
- Manages all interview room process, works with employers to set up selection process and promotes and markets this service to employers.
- Creates, implements and documents policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently manage employer recruitment activities and services. Communicates these policies to Centre for Student Involement & Careers staff and campus partners.
- Using a variety of online and off-line media and methods, markets and promotes various on-campus recruitment activities by employers to UBC students, alumni and faculties. Evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of various marketing channels.
- Leads on liaising with central alumni UBC and exploring partnerships with Faculty specific alumni professionals to develop a framework to approach alumni as potential employers and participate in career related events (career fairs, speaker series, career information forums).
- Creates new and foster existing partnerships with alumni UBC to leverage strategic opportunities, forge financial collaborations, and identify other synergistic opportunities to advance shared goals on student/alumni career preparedness, recruitment opportunities and alumni engagement as employers
- Works with the Manager, Career & Professional Development in all employer outreach activities and works towards increasing the number of local, national and international employment opportunities for UBC students and alumni by identifying and developing relationships with potential new employers.
- Investigates and responds to student complaints regarding employer recruitment practices and determines and applies practices concerning complaints and communicates these to management and the unit. In collaboration with the units Student Communications staff writes and disseminates media releases and advertising copy, and plans and executes other publicity initiatives to ensure effective promotion of Employer Engagement programs and initiatives
- Collaborates with faculty, other on-campus recruitment organizers, and business development partners on campus to represent the university.
- Works to develop and facilitate new and innovative methods for employers to engage with students on campus.
- Selects, trains and supervises Work Learn student assistants.
- Completes evaluations of recruitment services and programs and prepared reports as appropriate.
- Other additional duties as required

Qualifications / Required Skills

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of four years experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in employer relations, recruitment, business administration, or human resource management. Experience in public speaking and marketing preferred. Knowledge of career development, employment, and job search strategies. Knowledge of Canadian Association of Career Educators (CACEE) standards and guidelines for ethical recruitment. Familiarity with human rights, labour legislation and current human resources practices. Knowledge of local and national labour markets. Knowledge of current best practices in on-campus recruitment an asset. Knowledge of web content and design an asset. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to develop and manage a budget. Ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, juggle complex tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and to work effectively with all levels at the university. Ability to supervise, provide feedback and delegate work to student workers. Ability to manage programs as an educator, ensuring student learning remains at the core of decisions and planning. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and the occasional weekend throughout the year to attend Centre for Student Involvement & Careers, employer or related professional events at various locations on campus and in the community.

Salary: $57,991.00 - $69,618.00 (Annual)
