Job Description / Duties

Career Development and Experiential Learning (CDEL) is comprised of four merged services including: Career Services, Work Integrated Learning, Graduate School or Further Education Planning, and Co-Curricular Services. The department provides education, information, and support in various formats for MacEwan University, students, faculty and staff, employers, community partners, and alumni in the context of student career development.

The Career Development Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of accessible, responsive and relevant career advising services to students, alumni and program areas of MacEwan University. The Career Development Specialist creates, develops and evaluates initiatives, events and projects for students and alumni focusing on the development of life-long skills that can be accessed to manage one's own career. This includes working with stakeholders (faculty, staff, alumni, employers and students); the development of learning outcomes for services provided as well as content development and formats for workshops, seminars, information sessions, career fairs and one to one advising.


Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful applicant must have a related University degree. A background in and knowledge of current career development theory, experience in post-secondary and in leadership roles are desirable. Other experience includes: at least two years of career advising, facilitation of workshops or seminars and the development of information or resources for clients. Certification and experience with career assessments such as the Strong Interest Inventory or MBTI is preferred. Applicants must have excellent organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and have a willingness to engage in creative thinking and problem solving. Technological competencies in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with MacEwanWorks (ORBIS) or other Career Management software is considered an asset.

Salary: $57,098 - $74,227 per annum
