We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Career Coordinator who will help contribute to this growing environment. You will be linked to a specific Faculty, developing and delivering a dedicated Career Development Program across all years and programs of study within the Faculty. Drawing on your knowledge of the labour market and relationships with employers, you provide our students, adult learners and recent graduates with career development and recruitment opportunities, which take into account the distinct needs of Ryerson’s diverse student body.
As a Career Education Coordinator, you will also be involved in delivering and evaluating a Faculty-wide Career Development Program and provides support in the creation of career-related resource materials to support students’ professional development. You will work collaboratively with the Campus Engagement team and stakeholders, to provide, in keeping with the curriculum, career education and experiential learning offerings for a diverse group of students and alumni. Supports the Career Education Specialist in the implementation of career education programs tailored to the distinct needs of diverse student and alumni groups across campus.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a post-secondary degree program and a minimum of two years relevant work experience in higher education, community development or graduate recruitment in one or more of the following areas career advisory, curriculum design, graduate recruitment, experiential learning.
A demonstrated commitment to client service, specifically students, staff, faculty and external contacts such as employers; excellent interpersonal skills, sensitivity and demonstrated professionalism is required to help students plan and implement effective, realistic career and work-search plans.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver workshops and sessions both face-to-face and online, for undergraduate and graduate students
Sound judgment and decision-making skills and up-to-date knowledge of labour market trends are essential to effectively advise students on career development, self-assessment, skills identification, occupational options, work-search techniques and labour market trends.
Experience with and practical knowledge of social media, social recruitment, and digital engagement strategies for career development.
Ability to provide evidence of successful outcomes achieved through influencing key stakeholders such as senior managers within an educational environment or business in relation to employability.
Demonstrated experience in working with equity seeking groups within a career education setting is desirable and a commitment to upholding the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to the development of the Centre’s career education offerings is required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team-member; strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and flexibility are required to effectively prioritize and ensure completion of assigned work, to change priorities as the need arises and to work overtime as required by the demands of the position.
