We require a qualified individual to assume responsibility for the delivery of quality student work-integrated learning experience processes (other than co-op work terms) through the design and implementation of College-wide structures related to Unpaid Education Placements (UEPS). • Develop strategic College-wide procedures and practices for a newly-centralized organizational structure, where appropriate, and recommend to the Leadership Team for approval and implementation
• Build a new team of placement officers focused on providing excellent service and support to students and partner sites
• Allocate responsibility for 4,000 students and more than 7,000 placements among staff and facilitate collaboration among roles to ensure student success and partner satisfaction
• Maintain a high level of staff performance through effective recruiting, selection, training, motivating, supervision and performance management
• Ensure staff have the role clarity, resources and support required to be successful
• In consultation with direct reports, develop annual performance goals for each staff member; goals must be measurable and align with the fiscal year goals and priorities of the department
• Oversee Conestoga’s pre-practicum health and safety requirements, partner site affiliation agreements and placement processes
• Develop and maintain a framework that encompasses the range of practicum requirements required by all programs across the College
• Develop and oversee the implementation of a strategic plan and critical path to integrate pre-admission and continuing student requirements for practicum health and safety related requirements for each admission cycle/semester
• Prepare an annual plan for continuous improvement
• Prepare and monitor the WIL Support Services budget
• Provide support for the sale of H.S.Trax and/or the Safety in the Workplace module; collaborate with the Director, Co-op, Career & WIL on Trademarking the product where appropriate
• Develop a process and critical path related to implementing and updating Affiliation Agreements, in collaboration with the Director of Co-op, Career & WIL to ensure clarity and timeliness of development, review and approval of agreements and ensuring the contract database is complete and current
• Develop processes for, and direct the implementation of, new and existing placements and contract requirements liaising with Program Coordinators and Placement Officers as required
• Liaise with the Director of Co-op, Career & WIL regarding potential liability issues and matters related to insurance coverage and out-of-province placements
• Liaise with academic departments and work collaboratively with academic Chairs to support integration of practicum and placement services
• Develop and monitor placement processes to ensure protocols are being followed including timely student incident reporting to Occupational Safety and WSIB and the completion of required documentation
• Manage College-wide processes related to the Unpaid Education Placement Procedures and Processes including maintaining the WIL Guidelines document, lead its implementation and act as a resource for issues related to the procedure
• Participate in the acquisition of a college-wide field placement management solution
• Chair Conestoga’s Unpaid Education Placement (UEP) Committee and maintain the UEP SharePoint site
• Manage the development and implementation of the Safety in the Workplace course; ensuring content meets legislative guidelines
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in related discipline, preferably business or management, strongly preferred
• Five years supervisory experience
• Experience in an educational setting an asset
• Experience working with international students or immigrants to secure employment
• High level of computer literacy including familiarity with a Student Information System in an academic setting is considered an asset
• Strong organizational and interpersonal relations/conflict resolution skills
• Knowledge of WSIB/Insurance information and contractual agreements an asset
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills
• Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques
• Customer service and project management skills; experience using technology to deliver services
• Understanding of customer relationship management databases
• Strong leadership and management skills; ability to build teams and manage change
• Knowledge of labour market trends and community partner needs
Salary: :$79,769.00 - $99,711.00
