Job Description / Duties

We are currently recruiting for a Job Search Advisor & Resource Coordinator to work with the Career Centre for this exciting temporary opportunity.

Do you possess experience facilitating job search and career skills development? Do you possess knowledge of current job search strategies and adult learning principles as well as an ongoing commitment to keeping abreast of new developments in the field? Do you possess experience working with students and new graduates in a post-secondary environment? Do you possess knowledge of current job search strategies, methods and use? Are you proficient with workshop design, development and evaluation using adult education principles? If so, keep reading!

In this role, you will provide informed and responsive in-person job search support to students and recent graduates and to gather, evaluate and maintain the Career Centre’s career exploration and job search resource materials. This individual works as a member of the Programs & Services team to facilitate individual employment and job search advising and job search workshops, and to maintain up-to-date career resource materials. The Job Search Advisor & Resource Coordinator will assist students with action plans and skills in order for them to be successful in their individual job search and broader career goals.

Qualifications / Required Skills

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:
A University Degree, plus specialized training in job search strategies and career development or four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. In addition, the successful incumbent will possess two years’ recent related experience facilitating job search and career skills development (e.g. advising students on job search skills, developing and delivering job search skills workshops, etc.) preferably working with students and new graduates in a fast-paced post-secondary environment.
