Graduate Student Career Advising:
Provide on-going personal consultations, career and industry research, networking contacts, job search strategies, marketing materials and personal branding strategies, résumé and cover letter reviews, business process and tracking tools for job search and salary negotiations.
Introduce competency development with students and matching to industry job postings.
Develop marketing strategies and implement business development initiatives by researching and making contacts with prospective employers including taking the lead for development strategies to increase recruitment activity with the energy and other emerging sectors.
Negotiate service contracts with external consultants who provide career advice, job search support, and workshops to MBA students.
Support International students to have a better understanding of the Canadian workplace culture and expectations.
Generate statistical summaries of employer contact (seminars, consultations, résumé critiques) in a timely basis.
Sector Marketing / Employer Development:
Research and analyze employment trends and industry opportunities, with a specific focus on MBA and graduate student hiring trends.
Design and deliver a robust career management program consisting of workshops and online resources.
Identify and target industry contacts who may employ MBA and other graduate students.
Provide advice to employers on potential roles and job descriptions for summer students.
Stakeholder Relations:
Develop relationships with appropriate faculty members, professional associations, and library personnel in order to design and implement appropriate career decisions and job search methods for students and alumni.
Recruit and invite industry speakers to partner with the School by advising students on career opportunities and to participate in mentorship programs and student activities organized by the Career Centre and student clubs.
Leadership:
Participate in strategic planning and business plan preparation for the Haskayne Career Centre to guide programs and services.
Lead the annual surveying and reporting of all MBA graduate employment information and statistics for Haskayne Students.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in a related field required.
Minimum 7 - 10 years' experience in a professional services environment, especially a human resources talent management, career services, or employment consulting environment.
MBA degree or equivalent; career coaching experience or certification are an asset.
Experience in marketing and business development.
Knowledge of industry, job market and associated trends; to target industries and employers.
Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Experience developing and sustaining relationships with individuals from a wide variety of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds (ranging from CEOs to potential graduate students).
Experience working with, coaching, and advising high performing individuals.
Ability to lead and/or participate on multiple team projects.
Ability to interact with corporate recruiters and facilitate their successful recruitment of students.
Strong interest in business and the ability to understand business functional areas or industries (i.e. energy, marketing, technology, finance, banking, consulting, etc.), develop metrics and evaluation systems, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.
Understanding of higher education issues such as student recruitment, development, counseling, and the unique needs of graduate students in today's economy.
Experience in administering and interpreting results from career assessment tools; certification an asset.

The Haskayne Career Centre offers MBA and other business graduate students and alumni valuable professional skill development programs, one-on-one coaching, a senior mentorship program, and the opportunity for students to participate in summer work opportunities, all designed to assist our students in meeting their career goals. Reporting to the Manager, Haskayne Career Centre, the incumbent works in a noisy, high traffic area with frequent interruptions and must allow for a flexible schedule, as work will involve some evenings and weekends. Work is driven by constant deadlines and ambiguity requiring unique resolutions. Peak periods are September to November and January to April, which are demanding due to the high volume of student and recruiter contacts. The incumbent delivers career and employment education to a diverse domestic and a growing population of international students, including MBA, EMBA, other business graduate students, and alumni.
