Category: EducationUnder the direction of the Manager, Career and Placement Services, the Coordinator, Employer and Partner Relations is responsible for developing and stewarding partnerships with placement sites to assure high quality placement opportunities for in-course students. Responsibilities include evaluating and responding to employment trends to identify partnership opportunities, generating and cultivating current and new employment opportunities, developing program-specific promotional materials, and outreach to existing and new contacts via site visits, social media, mailings, and attendance at industry events.
Using a direct sales approach, the incumbent is responsible for conducting market research, identifying target markets, and engaging employer and community partners in career events, information sessions, industry tours, mentorship programs, and other opportunities both on and off campus. The incumbent must have the ability to prospect leads, establish meaningful connections and apply strategies to overcome objections during outreach. The incumbent must have the ability to interact effectively with the community partners, faculty, staff and students in a professional manner. The incumbent is expected to complete a wide variety of tasks independently and without direct supervision in a fast paced and challenging environment and will be required to meet annual performance targets for both employer engagement and for increased employment and placement postings each academic cycle. The incumbent must be proactive and take initiative to meet the goals set by the department. Finally, the incumbent must complete other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in either business, economics, marketing, public relations, or communications and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. A graduate degree in a relevant area would be considered an asset to the position. The candidate should have experience within a sales or employment development role, with experience including marketing and direct sales and development. Additionally, a proven record of success in generating new business and building client relationships in new market sectors is important. Knowledge of Career Services delivery and experience in a post-secondary placement setting is strongly preferred, along with knowledge of industry career options, trends, and opportunities. The candidate must have excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills, along with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good judgement, resolve conflicts, and overcome objections. The candidate requires a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for regular off campus travel.
