Pre-Covid-19 there were a number of positive economic and labour force trends across Atlantic Canada. The labour force was growing again, the number of international students studying in our post-secondary education institutions was rising and a number of important export industries were on the rise. Covid-19 has disrupted this positive momentum and has introduced significant uncertainty into the economic outlook for the region. David will review recent trends in the economy and labour force, discuss how the pandemic has impacted the economy and speculate on the path forward for the region. What industries are best positioned coming out of Covid-19? What occupations are poised to grow? What are the risks to renewed economic growth?
