Job Description / Duties

Under the direction of the TRU Career Education Department, the Cooperative Education Coordinator will work with Arts, Science, Tourism students, alumni, and prospective employers. The Coordinator may be responsible for promoting the co-op program to students and prospective employers. Additional responsibilities may include teaching the COOP 1000 course; advising students on career development/planning/management; employer liaison and securing and coordinating placements for co-op students with participating organizations, corporations and agencies; conducting work-site visits; monitoring and evaluating student work terms; marking work-term reports; and maintaining current co-op positions.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Master's degree relevant to the Career Education Field

Minimum of 3 years’ experience relevant to the Career Education Field

Extensive related experience working with industry, business and/or not-for-profit

Demonstrated instructional skills in a post-secondary setting

Superior time management, written and oral communication skills required

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations (including students [domestic and international], employers, faculty, deans, administrators and alumni) are required

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential

Knowledge of regional, provincial, national, and international labour market information

Strong computing skills are required
