Special Announcement for CACEE Members and Friends Regarding Heartbleed Security Issue

by CACEE / ACSEE, posted on April 11, 2014
You have likely heard about the Heart Bleed security bug that is all over the news. We have checked with our web service provider, Exware, to determine if we needed to take any action to protect your private data. Here are the answers they have provided in response to our enquiry.

Is the Heartbleed issue affecting Exware servers? Specifically, the CACEE website?

“Heartbleed is a vulnerability that was found in OpenSSL software. The server that the CACEE website is on does not use this software and therefore wasn't impacted. However, the mail server does use it but our IT team applied the patch as per industry best practice so it is safe from this vulnerability. The other areas that may be impacted are e-commerce gateways. However, CACEE uses Beanstream and they do not use this software and were therefore not impacted (see below screenshot of their Twitter statement). “

Given this response, I am confident that your data is secure from the Heartbleed flaw.

Sincerely,

Paul D. Smith
